Fun Green Living Tips

Here are some fun things you can do for your green movement.

Window Box Gardening:

Just because you live in an apartment or Town House does not mean you can not grow your own herbs or vegetables. They can be grown in water tight containers on your window ledge. All it takes is the containers, potting soil, water, seeds or starter plants and you will soon be reaping the rewards. I suggest collecting rain water to water your plants with.

Carpet Fresheners:

Many of you still like to have a smell to your home, though clean has no smell I like some sort of smell in my home too. A great idea is to throw a couple of cinnamon sticks into your vacuum bag. I love the smell of cinnamon and a friend taught me this trick and I have been using it since she told me about it. You might try some other natural sources for the vacuum bag also. Let me know what works for you.

Green Weddings:

These seem to be big now and here are some ideas for your green wedding.

Use invitations that are made from 100% recycled paper that have not been processed with chlorine. You can also have seeds embedded into the invitations so that the guests can then plant the invitation and grow the flowers. What a great idea this is.

Rings are as we know made of gold and the gold is being mined from our earth. Search for antique rings, perhaps there are some in your family.

Every bride wants a beautiful gown and every bride deserves one. You can buy vintage gowns that are absolutely beautiful. Search for vintage gowns and tuxedos in your area or online. Another idea is to purchase an organic silk/hemp wedding gown or suit.

Plan your wedding dinner with a caterer who provides vegetarian and organic entrees.

You want beautiful flowers and you can have them and stay green by using a florist that uses flowers from local and organic farms.

Throwing rice is not a good idea, you can throw birdseed instead.
